Homes. Stories. Food. Objects.

Stories and observations about home, memory and the things that shape how we live.

STORIES

Ideas, places and ordinary things worth looking at twice.

Warm, light-filled living room with natural materials, a fireplace and views of the landscape.

HOMES

The rooms we remember are rarely the perfect ones.

The chair left out. The book never put away. The marks on a table that nobody thought worth noticing at the time. Years later, these are often the details that bring a room back.

OBJECTS

There is something in your house your family will throw away when you die.

You might walk past it every day. To you, it carries a whole story. To somebody else, it may be nothing more than an old chair, a chipped bowl or a box that has been taking up space for years.

A worn, repaired ceramic bowl resting on an old wooden table in warm afternoon light.

Heron & Moss

A way of looking at home and the lives that unfold around it.

Heron & Moss is a place for stories and observations about how we live. The houses we remember. The food we gather around. The objects we keep. The places that stay with us long after we have left them. It is interested in beautiful things, certainly, but even more interested in why some things come to matter.

Homes. Stories. Food. Objects.

Perhaps home was never really about the house.

What stays with us is often something else entirely.

A new story, occasionally.

Notes on home, memory, food, objects and the ways we live — from Heron & Moss.

No noise. Just something worth reading when there is something worth sending.
